Personal Statement

My 21+ years experience in TEFL/ESOL and 16 years in academic management, together with excellent organisational, leadership and interpersonal skills, make me both an effective teacher and manager. I have taught learners of varying ages and ability, from beginners to those who are more proficient.

Training and Coaching

Responsible for teacher development/creating teacher development schedules.
Training Japanese teachers/students to teach English to young learners in Japan.
Training teachers of Japanese to use English to teach Japanese to non-Japanese speakers.
Lecturing on the history of EFL methodology.
Coaching IELTS students for speaking exams.
Teaching “unknown’ language component on teacher training courses.
Coaching Japanese trainees to give cultural presentations in English at local primary schools.
Teacher support on a day-to-day basis including advising on lessons, planning and materials.

Leadership

Administration

Writing handbooks and policies (in compliance with Accreditation UK/British Council criteria and current legislation.)

Acting as liaison between internal and external stakeholders.

Preparation of Materials

Preparing lesson materials and maintaining resources by keeping up to date with the latest trends and developments in EFL through magazine and website descriptions.
